Where do you get a dog or cat license and how much does it cost?
You can purchase one at the City Office – 117 Central Ave N, Elbow Lake, MN 56531 at the north end of the Elbow Lake Community Building. The cost is $10.00 per year. All dog and cat licenses shall be issued for one year beginning with January 1 of each year. Application for a license may be made 30 days prior to January 1 each year. A permit must be obtained within 30 days for any dog or cat brought into and kept in the city after June 1 of each year.
What do I do if my dog or cat gets lost?
Call the Sheriff’s office at 218-685-8280. You may also contact the Grant County Humane Society at 218-685-6220. Shelter located at 1015 State Hwy 79 E, Elbow Lake, MN 56531 to see if your dog or cat has been dropped off.
How do I report a street light out?
Contact the City Office by phone 218-685-4483 or e-mail: cityhall@runestone.net to inform them of the location.
Where do I get rid of leaves?
The leaf and grass dump location is located across the street from the Grant County Highway Department on 3rd St SE.
Where do I get rid of tree branches, garden refuse?

Go 3 .25 miles east of Elbow Lake on US Hwy 79, Turn South on 157th Ave and continue for 1 mile. Dump location will be on your left.

How is storm damage removal handled?
The city does pick up trees and branches left on the curb after a storm.
How is snow removal handled?
In most instances, the city does the snow removal before 8 am. Parking restrictions for snow removal
Can I park on the street by my house?
Yes you can.
How do I get rid of my old Christmas tree?
The city picks them up from your curb the first week in January. (look for the notice in the Grant County Herald and Herman-Hoffman Tribune newspaper).
Where can I Recycle?

Trailers for recycling newsprint, magazines, plastic bottles #1 and #2 only, glass, corrugated cardboard, paperboard, shredded paper, office paper, telephone books, brown grocery bags, tin cans, aluminum cans are located on 3rd St SE, Elbow Lake across form the Grant County Recycling Center. [DELETE: south of Viadock viaduct] The Grant County Recycling Center is located at 310 3rd St Se, Elbow Lake, MN 56531 (Call 218-685-6273 for hours). This site accepts fluorescent bulbs, appliances, metals, used oil, oil filters, and antifreeze. Household Hazadorous Waste (HHW) CollectionDays are held three times a year. How is my garbage picked up?

Garbage pickup is on Tuesday morning. Hydrants are flushed in the spring and fall.

Does the Elbow Lake Community Building have rooms available to rent or reserve for the public’s use?

Yes! We have a variety of spaces that you can request:

 

Sanford Room – Approximate number of people: 100 to 150. Room has a full kitchen, LCD projector and large pull-down screen, surround sound with a microphone. $50 fee for the room only or $65 fee for room and kitchen.

Goetzinger Room – Approximate number of people: 50  Large open wall for AV display. $40 fee.

Swanson Room – Approximate number of people: 30. Room has a sink, counter space,  large open wall for AV display. $30 fee.
